WOMEN IN ENGINEERING
23rd December, 2018The 3rd edition of International Conference on Advanced Computing and Intelligent Engineering (ICACIE 2018), is organizing a one day mini-conference, dedicated to Women in Engineering Track (WiE), on 23rd December, 2018. This is part of the three day international conference, technically sponsored by Springer, to be held between 22-24 December 2018 in Siksha 'O' Anusandhan Deemed (SOA) to be University, Bhubaneswar, India.
About WiE 2018:
The aim of Women in Engineering Track (WiE) track is to technically inspire, engage and empower women engineers. This mini-conference track is designed for women researchers to assemble together and imbibe the spirit of being a SHE-techie. The goal is to provide opportunities to professional SHE-techies, belonging to a diverse sectors such as industry, academia, private or public sectors, to build work-groups that fuel innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing and provide support through highly interactive sessions designed to foster discussion and collaboration. WiE focuses on providing leading-edge professional development for those SHE-techies, passionate in research. It is anticipated to be a great platform to share innovative research ideas and socially bond with several researchers and domain experts.
Learning Objectives Of The Session:
- Apply the knowledge of Advanced Computing and Intelligent Engineering to solve complex engineering problems.
- Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using AI & Machine Learning, Web Mining, High Performance Computing etc.
- Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
Why WiE 2018:
It’s well documented that diverse teams perform better, so it’s absolutely clear that in order to solve the problems facing our world, we must ensure that we’re nurturing and retaining the best talent. Studies have shown that barriers are confronted by females in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Science is not a boy's game, it's not a girl's game. It's everyone's game. It's about where we are and where we're going. Women have the capability to be a great engineers, but there still remain advertent socio-cultural barriers and some unconsciously prevailing gender-biases, which do prevent them as on date, from harnessing their potential at their peak. The objective of WiE mini-conference track is to remove those barriers and lead the change. Conducting conferences and motivating young and passionate SHE-techies and researchers in a country like ours where female and male population census is almost equal, would greatly enhance directly or indirectly to the development of the country’s human resources and escalating its economy. Conducting WiE conference for women engineers in a partially but male-dominated environment is very much essential and ensures that there are ways to leak-proof the knowledge-pipeline from further leakage. The ultimate goal is to provide a forum to inspire, engage and empower women engineers.
Eligibility For Participation In The 'WiE MINI CONFERENCE':
- Faculty, Industry Personnel, Research scholars or Students’ of BE/B.Tech/MTech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any related branches.
- Faculty, Industry Personnel or Students’ from MCA/M.Sc. will be considered as equivalent to undergraduate in engineering.
Instruction To The Authors For Preparing WiE Paper:
The first author should be a female. Also, at least one of the female authors of each accepted paper must attend the conference and present the paper in person. The Call for Papers for WiE Track is the same as that for the main conference theme and the papers should be submitted through WiE Track on EasyChair. The authors are also requested to send a copy of their manuscript to wieicacie18@gmail.com. Authors can submit short (3 pages) and regular (6 pages) papers on research and development focusing on (but not limited to) the thrust areas mentioned in "Call For Papers" at www.icacie.com
